Share-Offer Opening Mid-September: Pledge your support now
Most families in Hull spend £100s each year giving energy companies huge profits. Imagine if that money stayed in Hull and we decided, as communities of ordinary people, how to spend it?
With your help, we will do just that. First, we install community owned solar panels on local buildings, like the Lonsdale Community Centre and St Matthew’s Parish Hall. Then we ensure the electricity generated is distributed to local people at an affordable price through an Energy Local club. The Big Six don’t get look-in; the money stays in Hull.
But we can't do it without you. We are raising £90,000 for a big solar array and battery at St Matthew’s Parish Hall through a community share offer. This will be the founding cornerstone of Power Plangeo, generating electricity for up to 40 households across the Plangeo substation area.
You can own a share of the system and know you are part of something big, a revolution that will transform Hull.
Anyone over 18 can invest in the project. If you live in Hull the minimum buy in will be £50. For people living outside of Hull that will be £100. Investments will be repaid with a small amount of interest - we expect around 3%. We are working with Our Community Enterprise, who have a wealth of experience raising and repaying community shares, and our share offer will be approved by the Coops UK standard mark.
Pledge your support for this first step towards a new energy system. Early pledges really give the share offer a boost by demonstrating to more tentative investors that this is a project is exciting. You will be encouraging others to follow your lead. By pledging you are committing to us that you will invest in mid-September when the share offer launches. This pledge isn’t a hard promise - you are able to change your mind later (but we hope that you don’t!).
