£54,500 secured in grants

23 solar panels installed

£1,300 raised by crowdfunding

Here's our journey so far:

November 2024
The beginning
POWER HULL started when a few Hull residents (and members of Cooperation Hull) decided to stop waiting for change, and start building the energy system our city deserves.

First install
Lonsdale Community Centre went solar, with 23 panels and a 24 kWh battery funded by our first grant win — £20k from the Northern Powergrid Foundation.

October 2025
Energy club grant
We won our second grant: £35k from Great British Energy Community Fund, to set up Hull's first local energy club, Power Plangeo.

Over the winter, we raised £1,300 to pay for Energy Local training through a crowdfunder.

Next steps

October 2026
Community share offer
We're launching our first community share offer! We're aiming to raise funds to install a large solar panel array and battery at St Matthew's Parish Hall on Boulevard.

This would be our first community-funded and community-owned power station, and would provide capacity for up to 40 households to join Power Plangeo!

Looking ahead

Spring 2027
Launching Power Plangeo
Power Plangeo will go live, allowing residents to buy cheaper, cleaner energy produced in their neighbourhood.

Before launch, we'll host public events for anyone interested to learn more.

Growing Power Hull
Our vision is power in the hands of Hull communities. Owning and democratically managing our own energy systems — to benefit the people, not shareholders.

Community power stations, energy clubs, and Power Assemblies across Hull?

It's possible, let's make it happen.
