£54,500 secured in grants

23 solar panels installed

£1,100 raised by crowdfunding

Here's our journey so far:

November 2024
The beginning
POWER HULL started when a few Hull residents (and members of Cooperation Hull) decided to stop waiting for change, and start building the energy system our city deserves.

First install
Lonsdale Community Centre went solar, with 23 panels and a 24 kWh battery funded by our first grant win — £20k from the Northern Powergrid Foundation.

Now
Energy club is go!
We just won our second grant, £35k from Great British Energy Community Fund. With this, we'll set up Hull's first local energy club: Power Plangeo.

We've also nearly raised the £1,250 we need for training through our crowdfunder.

Next steps

2026
Launching Power Plangeo
Power Plangeo launches in 2026, allowing residents to buy cheaper, cleaner energy produced in their neighbourhood. Several buildings with solar have already committed to join as our first community power stations.

The Plangeo Power Assembly will launch too, giving everyone a democratic say in how it runs.

Before launch, we'll host public events for anyone interested to learn more.

Looking ahead

2026 and beyond
Growing Power Hull
Our vision is power in the hands of Hull communities. Owning and democratically managing our own energy systems — to benefit the people, not shareholders.

Community power stations, energy clubs, and Power Assemblies across Hull?

It's possible, let's make it happen.
